Men's Soccer Finishes Regular Season With 5-11-2 Record

Oakland City, Indiana - The Mighty Oaks men's soccer team wrapped up their regular season, finishing with a record of 5-11-2. The Oaks earned wins over Kentucky Christian University (3-0), the University of Pikeville (2-0), Boyce College (8-0), Fisk University (6-1), and Lindenwood University-Belleville (2-0).

OCU finished with two ties on the season, earning a 1-1 final score at Campbellsville University on September 25, and a 3-3 result at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on October 20.

The Oaks also went 0-3 in games decided by one goal, losing their season opener against Asbury University 2-1, in double overtime on, August 26, falling 2-1 against Lincoln College on October 12, then dropping a 3-2 game against Indiana University-East on October 17.

In games decided by two goals, OCU finished with a record of 2-4, losing 2-0 at Trevecca Nazarene University (September 14), 2-0 at Lincoln College (September 21), then beating the University of Pikeville (September 29), 2-0, falling 2-0 at Brescia University (October 3), downing Lindenwood University-Belleville (October 26), 2-0, and falling 3-1 against Union University (TN) (November 2), 3-1.

The Oaks brought in 18 freshmen this season, after graduating five key starters from last year's squad. Starting at least seven freshmen in every game, the team expected to be able to learn a lot while going through a time of bonding.

Leading the way for the Mighty Oaks in scoring was freshman forward Luke Simpson (Maldon, England) with seven goals and four assists. Following behind Simpson was Sophomore Adolfo Rivas (Mexico City, Mexico), who was named an All-Region and All-American last season, with four goals.

The Mighty Oaks are set to only graduate one senior, Captain Carlo Diaz-Madrid (Boynton Beach, Florida). The future is bright as they will be returning 27 players to next year's squad, with no upper classmen outside of Diaz-Madrid this season.

OCU will now wait for the results of conference play to determine what will happen with the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East Regional Tournament, and may play host to Campbellsville University for the region championship.
