Oakland City, IN - For the second time in as many days, the Oakland City University women's basketball team hosted the Hilltoppers of Ohio University-Chillicothe. The Lady Oaks picked up where the left off, turning a 46-27 halftime lead into an 85-50 win, their fourth of the season.
Kiare Young led six OCU players in double figures, scoring 19 points, on 8-15 shooting, including 3-5 from three point range.
Reanne Kietlinski went 6-9 from the field, scoring 13 points while picking up four steals.
Malia Schmittler added 12 points, followed by
McKendree Ward who had her second collegiate double-double in a row, with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out a game high seven assists.
Tabby Klem and
Emma Lander also had 10 points each in the victory.
Braiden Collins was the only Hilltopper to reach double digits in the scoring column, posting a game high 24 counters, on 8-24 shooting, while nabbing a game best six steals. Morgan Bircher hauled in a game high 13 rebounds, while scoring two points, while Cadee Causey and Alexis Cooper each scored seven.
As a team, OCU shot 35-78 (44.9%) from the field, going 8-21 (38.1%) from three point range. OU-Chillicothe connected on 16-57 (28.1%) of their shot attempts, making 3-13 (23.1%) from beyond the arc. The Oaks made a perfect 7-7 (100.0%) of their foul shots, compared to 15-26 (57.7%) for the visiting Hilltoppers.
The Oaks hauled in 51 rebounds, compared to 40 for OU-Chillicothe, includinga 17-14 advantage on the offensive glass. OCU handed out 26 assists, while turning the ball over 14 times, while the Hilltoppers had seven assists and 25 turnovers.
Oakland City University will be off until December 30, when they look to build on their two game win streak, when they take on the Bearcats of Brescia University. Tip off in the Johnson Center is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
