Worthington and Scott Lead OCU to 16th Straight Win on Senior Day

The Oakland City University men's basketball team recognized the three graduating players, Austin Robertson, Logan Worthington and Andrew Scott, prior to their senior day matchup against Andrews University, out of Berrien Springs, Michigan. After taking a 40-31 halftime lead, OCU held off the Cardinals down the stretch, winning by the final score of 71-64.

Scott led all scorers in the game, making 9-24 from the field, including 7-15 from three point range, scoring 29 points to go with a game high 13 rebounds. Worthington added 16 counters, coming one rebound shy of a double-double. Tyler Toopes added 13 counters while handing out eight assists and grabbing four steals, while Jacob Sanford scored nine.

Joshua Fitzpatrick paced the Cardinals, scoring 21 points while hauling in 11 rebounds. Nate Tchamba added 17 counters, while Jeremiah Irby chipped in with 11 points, seven boards and four blocked shots in the loss.

As a team, OCU shot 25-57 (43.9%) from the field, including 10-25 (40.0%) from three point range. Andrews connected on 27-65 (41.5%) of their shot attempts, going 5-18 (27.8%) from beyond the arc. The Oaks made 11-14 (78.6%) from the foul line, compared to 5-9 (55.6%) from the charity stripe.

For the game, OCU held a 40-36 rebounding advantage, despite trailing 16-15 on the offensive glass. The Mighty Oaks handed out 21 assists, compared to 15 for Andrews University, while losing the turnover battle 18-14.

The Mighty Oaks will continue their campaign into the postseason, competing the Christian College National Invitational Tournament for the eighth year in a row. The CCNIT will be held in the Johnson Center, March 7-9.
