Softball Splits with Lincoln College Lynx

The Oakland City University softball team hosted the Lynx of Lincoln College, out of Lincoln, Illinois, for a double header. After scoring in each of the game's first five innings, the Oaks took the opener 9-0, then led 4-1 entering the seventh inning of game two, but gave up three runs in the seventh, then five in the ninth, losing 9-5 at EGGSL Field.

In game one, Reagan Hensley went a perfect 3-3 at the plate, including a double and a triple, scoring twice and driving in another run. McKendree Ward continued her strong showing in the batter's box, going 3-3 as well, with a double, three runs batted in, and a run scored. Lauren Stone was 2-3 with a double and a stolen base, scored twice and drove in another, while Demi Croak went 2-3 with a run scored. Anna Orsburn went 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Caitlin Huff was 1-2 with a double and a run. Amanda Craig was 1-2 with a double and a run, while Valerie Lewis went 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Bailey Davis also drove in a run in the win.

Lewis threw a complete game to earn the win in game one, her first win on the season. She allowed two hits, both singles, with one walk and one strikeout.

Huff took the ball to start the second game, pitching the first seven innings, allowing four runs, all earned, on eight hits and three walks, while striking out four. Lewis pitched the final two innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits and a walk, while striking out one.

Croak led the Oaks at the plate in game two, going 3-5 with three RBI. Ward had two hits in five at bats, including a double, scored twice and drove in one. Stone also had a double, finishing 2-5 with a run scored, while Hensley was 2-4. Misty Merter was 2-4 at the plate, while Lewis had a double and a walk, with an RBI and a run scored. Huff also had a double, while Orsburn scored a run.

The OCU softball team will be back in action when they travel to Madisonville, Tennessee, to take on Hiwassee College. Their four game series against the Tigers will start at 1:00 on Wednesday, March 27, and again on Thursday, March 28.
