Owensboro, KY - The Lady Oaks soccer team traveled to Owensboro, Kentucky, to take on the Bearcats of Brescia University. Carrying a record of 0-4-1 into the contest, OCU looked to earn its first victory on the young season, facing the 2-3 mark of the host school.
A spirited Lady Oaks team kicked off the first half with a goal early. Less than thirty seconds into the game,
Maddison Davis finished a pass from
Kylee Miller to put the Oaks on top 1-0.
Aireana Grimes found the back of the net in the 42nd minute, assisted by
Maggie Hendricks, then scored again, finishing a pass by
Macy Snodgrass in the 45th minute.
The Bearcats were finally able to get on the board, scoring late in the second period, sending the game to a final score of 3-1 in favor of the visiting Lady Oaks.
The Oaks ended the game with seven shots on goal, compared to eight for Brescia. OCU goalkeeper
Jillian Beem saved seven shots on her way to earning her first victory between the poles this year.
Next up for the Lady Oaks will be a home matchup against Fontbonne University, at Aigner Field, on Friday, September 27, starting at 2:00.
