Oakland City, IN - The Mighty Oaks hosted the Midway Eagles on Thursday afternoon winning 4-1, bringing their record to 7-3-1 on the year. The Oaks lead all through the game, and had no problem finding the back of the net. The scoring opened up in the 8th minute of the game when Freshman
Simon Knuewe received a beautiful ball from Freshman
Matias Salfate and the ball was perfectly placed past the Midway keeper. Midway responded in the 29th minute when a ball broke past the defense and found the back of the net. The Oaks and Eagles were tied at Halftime 1-1.
Finding the back of the net 3 times in the second half, the Mighty Oaks Claimed victory over the Eagles. Goals in the second half were scored by Freshman
Sergio Revuelta, crushing a half-volley from outside the 6 yard box, assisted by Freshman
Connor Shields. The next goal fooled everyone, including the Eagles keeper, Senior
Esteban Gonzalez curved a ball from outside the 18' finding the side netting for goal number 3 for the Oaks in the 65th minute. The fourth and final goal was scored with some fancy footwork by Senior
Josue Dubon who dribbled around the keeper before just passing the ball in the net. It was hard fought victory for the Mighty Oaks.
The Oaks look to use this momentum game as they head into a tough stretch of conference games including, Asbury (Saturday), West Virginia Tech (Thursday, Oct 21st), and Saturday the 23rd against IU-East.
