Oakland City, IN - In the second game of the evening, the OCU Men's Basketball team squared off in their first conference game of their season. The Mighty Oaks had their largest lead of the game with 4:22 remaining in the game when they lead by 17. The Oaks took care of the Pomeroys with a final score of 74-61.
Ikechi Ajukwa led the way for OCU, scoring 19 points to go with 7 rebounds.
Nathaniel Schmittler also tallied 12 counters while
Tyler Camplin scored 10.
DJ Redding collected a team high of 8 rebounds followed by Ajukwa and Schmittler with 7 a peice.
Damon Ogletree led the way for the Pomeroys with 20 points, followed by 14 points and 2 assists from Jadyn McHugh. E Ramirez-Vazquez added 5 steals for the Pomeroys.
As a team, the Oaks made 28-56(50%) of their shot attempts, including 5-13 (38.5%) from three points range. The Pomeroys connected on 26-58 (44.8%) from the field, going 2-10 (20%) from beyond the arc. OCU made 13-23 (56.5%) from the foul line, compared to 7-12 (58.3%) for the visiting St. Mary of the Woods Pomeroys.
Oakland City held a 43-24 rebounding edge. The Oaks handed out 17 assists, compared to 8 for St Mary of the Woods.
The Oaks will be back in action against The University of Southern Indiana on Thursday, November 18 at 7 pm at Screaming Eagles Arena.
