Opening Game For Mighty Oaks Soccer Ends In 1-1 Draw Against Georgetown Tigers

Oakland City, IN - In the opening game of the 2022 Oakland City University men's soccer season, the Mighty Oaks hosted the Tigers of Georgetown College (1-0-0), out of Georgetown, KY. After each team found the net once in the opening period, defense reigned in the second half, and the scoreboard stood at 1-1 at the final horn.

The Oaks gave up the lone goal to the Tigers in the tenth minute, as Luca Zellman finished a cross from Esteban Betancurt, into the lower left corner of the net, from 22 yards out. Carlos Juarez tied the game for the OCU side, tapping in a cross from Esteban Gonzalez, from six yards.

Shots were 9-8, with the Oaks holding the slim lead, thanks to a 4-3 advantage in the second half. The Tigers' keeper made four saves, two more than OCU's Laurin Aumueller, making his debut In the blue and white. Georgetown was whistled for 19 fouls and were given seven yellow cards. The Oaks were called for 14 fouls, while being carded eight times, all yellow.
