Oakland City, IN - In a matchup against the new River States Conference opponent, the Bears of Shawnee State University, the Mighty Oaks women's volleyball team destroyed the Bears, winning in three sets. Set scores were 25-13, 25-21, and 28-26, as the Oaks saw their River States Conference record improve to 8-3, while SSU improved to 4-5 in conference play.
Chloee Thomas led the way for OCU in kills, collecting nine on 20 attacks.
Laura Betsa had seven kills followed by De'Sheonna Foster with five, with Foster tallying 14 attacks and Betsa 22.
Dunja Madjarevic had a team best 23 digs, followed by 11 from
Mariana Anastasiadi, who also had a team high 30 assists in the victory. Anastasiadi also led the team in blocks, with one solo and two assists.
Leading the way for the Bears in kills was Megan Steele, with 11 on 30 attacks. Marleigh Albert had a team high 19 assists, while Ava Jenkins led the way with 19 digs.
The Mighty Oaks will return to action on Saturday, October 14th, when they stay at home against Alice Lloyd College. Game time is set for 12:00 pm CST.
