Oakland City, IN- The Mighty Oaks Volleyball team took down the Bears from Shawnee State University in four sets Tuesday evening. A crowded evening helped push the Mighty Oaks to victory.
The Mighty Oaks took control from the beginning after jumping out to a 6-1 lead in the first set and they never looked back. Winning the first and second sets 25-22 and 25-16. The Bears took the advantage in the third set after a hot start and ended up winning the third 25-18. After a quick break in the action, the Mighty Oaks claimed the victory 25-17 in set four.
Chloee Thomas lead the Mighty Oaks with 18 kills, followed by
De'sheonna Foster with 12 and
Lisa Scapini with eight. Leading the Bears was Megan Steele with 14.
Laura Betsa lead the Oaks defense with four blocks and
Dunja Madjarevic lead with 36 digs. Haidyn Wamsley lead the Bears with four blocks and Makenna Lovely had 19 digs.
Mariana Anastasiadi had 41 assists to lead the Oaks and Reagan Lewis had 30 for the Bears.
The Mighty Oaks are in the Semifinal Match up against the Red Wolves of IU East at IU Kokomo on Friday.
