Oakland City, IN - In a matchup against the NAIA's 21st ranked Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo, the Mighty Oaks women's volleyball team battled hard but came up short, falling in three sets. Set scores were 25-18, 25-14, and 25-16, as the Oaks saw their River States Conference record drop to 3-2, while IUK improved to 4-0 in conference play.
Lisa Scapini led the way for OCU in kills, collecting eight on 37 attacks.
Callie Foster and
Laura Betsa each had six kills, with Foster tallying 25 attacks and Betsa 29.
Dunja Madjarevic had a team best 19 digs, followed by 14 from
Mariana Anastasiadi, who also had a team high 22 assists in the loss. Betsa also led the team in blocks, with one solo and two assists.
Leading the way for the Cougars in kills was Maggie Connell, with 15 on 30 attacks. Kaley Lyons had a game high 23 assists, while Alyvia Smith led the way with 21 digs.
The Mighty Oaks will return to action on Saturday, September 23, when they travel to Columbus, Indiana, to take on IUPU Columbus. Game time is set for 11:00 am CST/12:00 pm EST.
