Women's Basketball Remains Perfect in RSC

Oakland City, IN – The women's basketball team finished the week strong winning its fourth straight game over Shawnee State 66-51. With the win the Mighty Oaks improve their overall record to 11-5 and remain perfect at 7-0 in the River States Conference.

Senior Emilee Hope lead the way for Oakland City scoring 20 points on 5-8 (62.5%) shooting, all of which came from behind the arc. Hope had season highs in free throws made and attempted going 5-6 (83.3%) from the line, to go along with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists. Hope also tied the school record for 3-pointers made with 267 made threes.

Sophomore Kyrisha Hay had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and a team high five steals off the bench for the Mighty Oaks.

Oakland City lead the game from early in the first quarter all the way through the remainder of the contest. Shawnee State was able to keep things close until the Mighty Oaks started to pull away late in the third quarter. Oakland City had their biggest lead of the game at 17 points with 6:03 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Senior Marissa Austin contributed 11 points and a rebound while Mighty Oaks Jalaya Dowell and Tabatha Klem each had eight points and a block. Dowell also had eight rebounds with Klem having six, an assist and two steals.

The team will now hit the road for their next three games before being back at home in the Johnson Center on January 30th to take on the IU Kokomo Cougars at 5:30pm.
