Evansville, IN-- After the blowout win on Saturday against the Brescia Bearcats, the Mighty Oaks returned to the field to face off with the last place Crimson Wave from IUC. In what seemed to be a tight contest over the first 15 minutes, quickly changed to a one sided contest for the Mighty Oaks.
Just 16 minutes into the game, a shot by
Dwight Savoury smashed the crossbar which ricocheted off and found
Ian Cowie for an easy tap in goal to open the game up. The Mighty Oaks remained in control for the rest of the first half. Just before the break, the Mighty Oaks found the back of the net again, this time for
Dwight Savoury. A ball through from leading scorer, Pablo Herrero, found Savoury in open territory where he smashed the ball passed the Crimson Wave keeper. Into the halftime rest the Mighty Oaks out shot the Wave, 15 to five.
It took another 10 shots for the Mighty Oaks to score again, in the 80th minute,
Willem Hulsebosch, off of a pass from Savoury and
Filimon Asfha, he put the Mighty Oaks up 3-0, and this ended the scoring for the day. With this win the Mighty Oaks sit in second place to Rio Grande with a 5-0-1 record. Up next, they travel to NCCAA Rival, Asbury University, on Tuesday evening.
