Women's Soccer Sits Alone in First Place in RSC After 7-0 Win Over IUC

Evansville, IN-- The Crimson Wave of IU Columbus made their way to the Goebel Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon for an RSC Soccer match up against the first place Mighty Oaks. The Mighty Oaks dominated in every single category of the game and held nearly a 75-25 possession throughout the entire game. 

Even though the Mighty Oaks clearly controlled the first half of the game, they couldn't capitalize and find the back of the net in the first half with the score being knotted up at 0-0 when the first half horn sounded. The Mighty Oaks placed nine shots with three on goal in the first half. Quickly into the second half is when all the action began and the flood gates were opened for the Oaks. Scoring early into the second half was Maggie Mubuto fours minutes in, assisted by Tatjana Steinau. Muboto would later find her way in the the penalty area, get fouled and finish the Penalty Kick for her second goal of the afternoon. Other goal scorers for the Mighty Oaks were Alice Thoren with two goals, Paulina Osterman with two and Linn Adolfsson-Funk with one. The Mighty Oaks finished the game 7-0 over the Crimson Wave. They finished with 25 shots, 17 of which were on goal.

The Mighty Oaks improved their streak to seven in a row, and claimed sole possession of first place with the win today. Next up for the Lady Oaks is a home contest against IU-Kokomo.on Saturday the 26th with a kick off time of 2 pm CDT.
