On Monday, the Mighty Oaks baseball team took on the Eagles of Asbury University at Konkler Field. In a slugfest, Oakland City was able to secure a mercy-rule victory. With this win, the Oaks improve their record to 13-5.
The Oakland City offense started in the second inning. With the bases loaded,
Marcos Arocho singled to left field, bringing in two runs.
Pete Britton (single) and
Kiefer Parsons (walk) scored. An inning later, the Mighty Oaks added four more runs.
Noah Baugher led off with a double,
Xander Willis followed with a single, allowing Baugher to score. With two runners on,
Pete Britton connected for a long ball. A three-run homerun for the freshman infielder, made the score 6-0.
The Mighty Oaks kept on scoring. In the bottom of the fourth,
Sam Pinckert and
Noah Baugher started with back-to-back doubles,
Xander Willis singled to center field and
Alec Pruitt followed with a double to the right-centerfield gap.
Pete Britton stayed hot at the plate, as he singled to left field, bringing home two more runs. In the fifth, the Mighty Oaks surrendered one run via a homerun.
Oakland City kept adding runs. In the fifth,
Jasiel Arocho singled to start another rally.
Noah Baugher followed with a single that allowed Arocho to make it 11-1 in favor of the Oaks. Two more runs were scored in the sixth inning. An RBI double from
Marcos Arocho allowed
Kendric Sorgius to plate a run,
Pete Britton scored the final Mighty Oaks run on a wild pitch.
Coach Andy Lasher used four pitchers in the game on Monday.

Cole Lambird (W, 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO),
Hunter Callahan (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 SO) and
Christian Burgrabe (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO).
Pete Britton carried the Mighty Oaks offensively, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, while walking once. One of his hits was the three-run homerun in the third inning.
