Oaks Slug Their Way Past Kentucky State

Going into the last week of the regular season, the Mighty Oaks hosted the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University on Tuesday. At a sun filled Konkler Field, Oakland City slugged their way past the Thorobreds.

The Mighty Oaks offense made some noise at Konkler Field, especially early on, as they plated twenty runs in the first two innings. Fourteen different hitters collected a hit for Oakland City, in total the offense got eighteen hits. Four of those hits were homeruns, Leyton Ivers, Blake Herrmann, Noah Baugher and Fred Fernandez all went yard.

Another unique feature about the game was a total of twelve hit by pitches for the Oakland City offense, which is a single game NAIA national record. Marcos Arocho led the team with three hit by pitches.

Leyton Ivers and Noah Baugher both led the team with four RBIs, as both of their homeruns were grand slams. The eight runs from these long balls helped getting the Mighty Oaks to 27 runs, Kentucky State scored once, making the final score 27-1.

Mick Uebelhor earned the win in three innings of no-hit baseball, he walked one and struck out five. Tommy Johnson, Evan Price, Kendric Sorgius and Kiefer Parsons all pitched an inning in relief. All of them also collected at least two strikeouts a piece.

This victory moves the overall record to 33-13 on the year, as Oakland City prepares for the last regular season series at Brescia University this weekend. These games will take place in Owensboro, Kentucky on Friday and Saturday.
