Mighty Oaks Score Eleven in Win Over UHSP

On a rainy Tuesday evening, the Mighty Oaks baseball team hosted the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy. In nine innings, Oakland City was able to score eleven runs, helping them to an easy 11-2 victory.

Mick Uebelhor started the game for the Mighty Oaks and provided his team with five no-hit innings. His offense gave him an early cushion. With runners on first and third, Oliver Hamilton singled to drive home the first run of the game. In the second inning, four runs were added. Garrett Causey walked; Marcos Arocho followed with a double. Arocho ended up scoring on a groundout from Mason Simon. Aron Busick and Noah Baugher followed with walks, which allowed Oliver Hamilton to drove both of them in with a 2-RBI double. This put the Mighty Oaks up 5-0 after two innings.

The offense stayed quiet for a little while, but in the bottom of the fifth, it was Oliver Hamilton who led-off the inning with another double. Xander Willis (triple) and Sam Pinckert (double) also collected extra-basehits, helping Oakland City to an 8-0 lead after five.

In the sixth inning, UHSP plated two runs. That was all they would score in the nine-inning game. The Mighty Oaks added three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Gehrig Jones singled, Blake Herrmann walked, Alec Pruitt walked and Xander Willis collected a 2-RBI single. Sam Pinckert brought home one more run with a sacrifice fly. The final score ended up being 11-2.

Mick Uebelhor started the game for the Mighty Oaks, he pitched five no-hit innings in which he walked one and struck out nine, he earned the win. Tommy Johnson (1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO), Kendric Sorgius (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO) and Nick Coleman (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO) all came in out of the pen.

Next up for the Mighty Oaks will be a River States Conference matchup versus IUPU Columbus. This series will either take place on Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, depending on the weather.
