Shutout Helps Oaks Stay Undefeated

A great pitching performance by Mick Uebelhor and Tommy Johnson helped the Mighty Oaks stay undefeated in the NCCAA World Series. Oakland City beat Columbia International University to move onto the Championship game tomorrow.

Starting pitcher Mick Uebelhor was phenomenal on the mound for the Mighty Oaks. The right-handed freshman hurled six shutout innings, in which he gave up just four hits. He walked one and struck out nine. Tommy Johnson earned the save, as he pitched the last three innings. He didn't allow a hit, while walking one and fanning three.

The Mighty Oaks took the lead in the top of the second, after Oliver Hamilton walked, Xander Willis singled and Alec Pruitt came in clutch with a 2-RBI single.

An inning later, the lead grew to 3-0. With one out, Noah Baugher was able to reach third base on a dropped fly ball in right field. He later scored on a passed ball.

In the top of the sixth a two-out walk for Xander Willis was followed by Alec Pruitt reached first on an error in left field. This error allowed Willis to score the fourth run of the evening.

The last run of the evening was scored on an RBI bunt single from Aron Busick. This allowed Marcos Arocho to score from third, after he tripled earlier in the inning.

With this 5-0 win over the Rams, the Mighty Oaks move on to Championship Wednesday with a 4-0 record in the tournament. They will face off against the Eagles of Southwestern Christian University, who they beat earlier today. Oakland City needs to win one out of potentially two games in order to be crowned the NCCAA National Champion. The is scheduled to start at 12:00 PM tomorrow.
