Evansville, IN – The Oakland City men's soccer team beat Campbellsville 2-1 in a close contest that was played in extreme heat on Wednesday evening at the Goebel Soccer Complex.
Campbellsville took the lead with a goal in the 26
th minute but the Mighty Oaks would even things up on the scoreboard at 1-1 late in the first half after a goal from
Pablo Herrero, assisted by
Ross O'Brian.
In a close second half Oakland City took the lead in the 77
th minute on a goal from
Evan Reape, assisted by
Toby Schweiger. The Mighty Oaks held the lead for the remainder of the contest, securing the 2-1 win.
With the win Oakland City improves to 2-0 on the season and looks to continue their momentum next week as they travel to Illinois to take on Governors State Thursday at 2pm.
