The Oakland City University women's soccer team continued its dominant season with a decisive 2–0 victory over West Virginia University Tech in the River States Conference Championship at Goebel Soccer Complex. The Mighty Oaks' performance showcased the blend of discipline, depth, and attacking quality that has defined their campaign, earning them both the conference title and an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
From the outset, Oakland City controlled possession and tempo, dictating play through composed passing and aggressive pressing. The Mighty Oaks outshot the Golden Bears 14–2, including 8 shots on goal, while limiting their opponent to just one attempt on target across 90 minutes.
After a tightly contested first half, Oakland City broke through shortly after the break. At the 47:19 mark, Alex Ortiz delivered the opening goal, capitalizing on a well-constructed attacking sequence. Just three minutes later, Sofia Lacey doubled the lead with a composed finish at 50:36, effectively sealing the result and energizing the Mighty Oaks bench and supporters.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Alicia Garwood and the back line turned in another exceptional performance, recording a shutout and holding WVU Tech's attack in check throughout the match.
