Oaks Get Walked-Off in Game Two

Kansas City, MO – in the second game of the NCCAA World Series, the Oakland City baseball squared off against Jessup University from California. In a real pitchers' duel, the Oaks were not able to come out on top, resulting in them moving to the loser's bracket.

Jessup came out swinging as they took an early 0-2 lead in the top of the first with a 2-run homerun.

The Mighty Oaks were able to provide some offense in the top of the fourth. With one out in the inning, Moises Rosario doubled to the right centerfield gap, a single from Josh Russell allowed Rosario to score and make it a 1-2 ballgame.

An inning later, Oakland City was able to tie the game up. Dicky Gonzalez hit a double and Leyton Ivers followed with an infield single, putting runners on first and third. A sacrifice fly from Kendric Sorgius brought Gonzalez in to score and tie the game up at two a piece.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the ninth, when the first pitch of the inning was hit over the fence for a walk-off homerun, resulting in a 2-3 win for Jessup University.

Both Oakland City pitchers did a solid job versus a strong lineup. Mick Uebelhor pitched 6.1 innings in which he allowed five hits and two runs (both earned). He walked none and struck out six. Chase Rubenacker came in out of the bullpen and pitched 1.2 innings. He gave up tow hits and one run (earned), while walking one and fanning two.

Rain and severe weather resulted in postponement of the rest of the day, resulting in an action-packed Tuesday. At 6:00 PM CST Oakland City will face off against the winner of Concordia Ann Arbor versus Judson, this game will be played at 11:00 AM.
