Oakland City Opens Season with Commanding 4–0 Win at Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Oakland City University women's soccer team started its 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion Friday evening, defeating Lindsey Wilson 4–0 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The Mighty Oaks wasted no time imposing themselves on the match, scoring twice in the opening half.  Jana Mueller netted the season's first goal in the 23rd minute, finishing a setup from Alex Ortiz. Just three minutes later, senior forward Macey Woolcock doubled the advantage with a clinical strike, assisted by Norka Fergusson..

Oakland City's attack continued to generate chances after halftime, and Woolcock struck again in the 77th minute to make it 3–0. Freshman Lena Poulain capped the scoring in the 86th minute, slotting home a feed from Woolcock to seal the victory.

Defensively, the Oaks were organized and resilient, limiting Lindsey Wilson to just one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Alicia Garwood needed only one save to record the clean sheet, while the back line snuffed out repeated threats late in the second half.

After the match, head coach Jamie Bladen praised his team's all-around performance:

"Always positive to start the season with a good performance and result. The clean sheet and amount of chances created should give the group confidence going into these very tough next games."

The victory marks Oakland City's first of the year (1–0–0) and sets a strong tone heading into a challenging early-season stretch.
