Justin Hawkins, the Oakland City University women's basketball assistant coach since 2020, was most recently an assistant coach of the Indiana University East men’s basketball program from 2017-2020. The Red Wolves were a combined 83-22 in the three seasons while Hawkins was there. Team accomplishments include a school record 28 game winning streak, regular season conference championship, two conference tournament championships, three national tournament appearances, an Elite Eight finish, and a Fab Four finish. Hawkins also coached eight players that were named to the All-Conference Scholar Team, seven players who were named All-River States Conference and two NAIA All-Americans.

Prior to coaching, Hawkins played at Evansville Day School in Evansville, Indiana. Hawkins graduated high school as the school's second all-time leading scorer and 8th all-time in Evansville history. After high school, Hawkins attended Ancilla College (NJCAA) where he was an All-Conference selection. After one year at Ancilla Hawkins attended NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan College two years. Hawkins finished his playing career at Indiana University East. Hawkins averaged 12 points 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.4 steals in two seasons and led IU East to their first 20-win season and a conference championship game appearance.
