Coach Janikowski will begin his first season as assistant coach with the Mighty Oaks in the 2017-18 year. "I liked his enthusiasm and willingness to work hard, combined with his passion for basketball," said OCU head coach Shayne Ross.

Janikowski has been involved in coaching basketball since his freshman year of high school, where he coached a recreational league in Columbus, Indiana. "It has been a dream of mine since about the age of 16 to be a college-level basketball coach." state Janikowski, "I am really excited for the opportunity to make that dream come true."

Janikowski comes to Oakland City University with a long list of experience. The latest being the head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant for Churubusco High School's first ever boy's IHSAA sectional championship run. "That has been the highlight of my coaching career so far. I will always have a spot in my heart for the school and the people of Churubusco, Indiana."

Prior to high school coaching, Janikowski was a student manager at two NCAA D1 universities. IPFW, under coach Chris Paul, and Ball State University, under coach Brady Sallee. His primary duties included filming practice, setting up drills, assisting scout teams, and statistics.

"I can't wait to bring all the energy I have to his program," adds Janikowski, "Both coach Ross and I are determined to not only win, but to grow the program and make long lasting relationships with everyone in the community."

Janikowski will work primarily with the post players, as well as fundraising and recruiting for the program.
