Lady Oaks Earn Victory in Hard-Fought Battle Against Warren Wilson

Making their home court debut, the Oakland City University women's basketball team hosted the Owls of Warren Wilson College. After losing both of their outings in the Asbury November Classic, OCU looked to improve on their 0-2 record against the 1-6 Owls.

After leading 38-36 at halftime, the Oaks found themselves trailing 65-57 heading into the final period of play, but were able to post 28 fourth quarter points, holding on to win 85-83.

Freshman Julyen Condra led the way for the Oaks in scoring, posting 20 points, on 8-18 shooting, including 3-10 from three point range, while grabbing eight rebounds. Shannon Pittman, a junior transfer from Earlham College, added 17 points and six boards, followed by Emma Lander's 14 points off the bench. Aricka Prentice notched 12 counters, including a turnaround layup to give the Oaks the lead for good. Maddie Ubelhor hauled in a game best 11 rebounds, while scoring four points and handing out six assists.

Danasia Dumas made 8-21 of her shots, going 4-10 from beyond the arc, on her way to a game best 21 points to lead the Owls. Asia Caldwell added 17 counters, while Eliniya Black chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

In a game that saw 11 tied scores and 32 lead changes, the Lady Oaks shot 30-73 (41.1%) from the field, including 9-31 (29.0%) from three point range. The Owls connected on 33-84 (39.3%) of their field goal tries, going 8-22 (36.4%) from beyond the arc. OCU made 16-26 (61.5%) of their foul shots, compared to 9-16 (56.3%) for WWC.

The Oaks trailed in rebounding 54-46, including a 20-13 deficit on the offensive boards. OCU handed out 19 assists, compared to 12 for the Owls, while each team committed 18 turnovers.

Next up for the Lady Oaks is a home matchup against the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, December 8, tipping off at 1:00 pm.
