First Quarter Woes Doom Lady Oaks Against Greyhounds

The Lady Oaks brought their 1-2 record into a home matchup against the 4-3 Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis. After falling behind 36-13 at the end of the first quarter, the Oaks were unable to climb out of the hole they dug, despite playing the rest of the game nearly even, with a deficit of 67-61, losing by the final score of 103-74.

Aricka Prentice led the way for the Oaks in scoring, making 6-12 from the field, including 2-3 from three point range, while making all five of her foul shots, posting 19 points. Maddie Ubelhor added 11 counters, while Julyen Condra added 10 points off the bench. Reanne Kietlinski started the game, and played ten minutes before leaving the game with a split on her forehead that required stitches.

Katie Sowa led the way for the Greyhounds, with a game high 25 points. Taylor Drury added 20 counters, while Emma Benoit came up with 16 points and a game best 14 rebounds. Laura Thomas added 16 points, as well as a game high six assists, followed by 15 points from Liz Alsot.

For the game, OCU shot 26-62 (41.9%) from the field, including 7-27 (25.9%) from three point range. UIndy connected on 37-65 (56.9%) of their shot attempts, making 11-26 (42.3%) from beyond the arc. The Oaks made 15-21 (71.4%) of their free throw attempts, compared to 18-19 (94.7%) for the visiting Greyhounds.

The Oaks were outrebounded in the contest 42-24, including an 11-8 deficit on the offensive glass. Indianapolis handed out 28 assists, compared to 18 for the home team, while each side had 19 turnovers.

Next up for the Lady Oaks is a home contest against Indiana University-Southeast, in the Johnson Center, on Wednesday, December 12, at 7:00 pm.
