The Mighty Oaks basketball team hosted the Eagles of Emmaus Bible College in the Johnson Center on Monday evening, looking to improve on their 7-5 record. After opening a 57-25 halftime advantage, OCU cruised to an easy win, 102-62.
Andrew Scott led all scorers in the game, posting 30 points, on 8-18 shooting, while going 10-11 from the foul line. Logan Worthington added 20 counters, while Tyler Toopes came up with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jacob Sanford also reached double digits in the scoring column, notching a dozen counters in the win.
Brandon Redding paced the Eagles, shooting 8-14 from the field, including 5-9 from three point range, scoring 21 points. Caleb Postma added 11 counters, while Chaz Vasser came up with 10 points and a team high seven rebounds.
For the game, OCU shot 34-72 (47.2%) from the field, going 10-28 (35.7%) from beyond the arc. EBC connected on 21-62 (33.9%) of their shot attempts, including 9-29 (31.0%) from three point range. The Oaks went 24-31 (77.4%) from the foul line, compared to 11-17 (64.7%) for the Eagles.
OCU held a 53-32 rebounding advantage, including an 18-9 advantage on the offensive glass. The Oaks handed out 23 assists, compared to 11 for the visitors, while winning the turnover battle 16-10.
The Mighty Oaks will return to action on Thursday, January 10, when they host Welch College in the Johnson Center. Game time is slated for 8:00 pm.
