Lady Oaks Topple Saints of Central Christian College as Five Score Double Figures

Oakland City, IN - The OCU women's basketball team hosted the Saints of Central Christian College of the Bible, out of Moberly, Missouri, looking to improve on their 4-9 record. After leading 39-27 at the halftime break, the Lady Oaks pulled away in the third quarter and never looked back, winning 85-50.

Kiare Young led all scoerers in the game, shooting 6-14 from the field, including 3-8 from three point range, on her way to 18 points. Tabby Klem added 14 counters, on 4-8 shooting, going 3-3 from beyond the arc. Reanne Kietlinski added 12 points, followed by 11 from Emma Lander, and 10 from McKendree Ward. Laurin Bentley led the Oaks with nine rebounds, while Klem, Ward and Young each had four assists. Schmittler, Klem and Bentley also grabbed three steals in the win.

Vanessa Oyola led the Saints in scoring, putting up 15 points, on 6-24 shooting, going 3-21 from long range. Kasandra Lazcano was the only other CCCB player to reach double digits in the scoring column, posing 12 points, while Lauren Mills pulled down a game best ten rebounds.

As a team, OCU shot 31-70 (44.3%) from the field, including 7-18 (38.9%) from three point range. The Saints connected on 18-59 (30.5%) of their shot attempts, making 9-37 (24.3%) from distance. The Oaks were 16-29 (55.2%) from the foul line, compared to 5-8 (62.5%) for the visitors.

The Oaks pulled down 51 rebounds, ahead of the 37 nabbed by the Saints, including a 22-13 lead on the offensive glass. OCU handed out 19 assists, while committing 15 turnovers, while CCCB had 10 assists and 23 turnovers.

These same teams will again face off in the Johnson Center tomorrow, tipping off at 1:00.
