Oakland City, IN - For the second time in as many days, the Oakland City University women's basketball team hosted the Saints of Central Christian College of the Bible. Their second matchup resulted in a similar result, as the Lady Oaks turned a 41-20 halftime lead into an 84-44 victory, improving to 6-9 on the season.
Reanne Kietlinski and
McKendree Ward each scored 16 points to lead the way for the Oaks, followed by
Tabby Klem, who put up 14 counters.
Emma Lander and
Kiare Young each had nine points, while
Laurin Bentley had game highs is rebounds, with 13, and steals, with six.
Lauren Mills paced the Saints, notching 13 points, while Ta'lor Branch added 12, followed by Tink Harris, who came off the bench to score 11.
As a team, OCU shot 33-78 (42.3%) from the field, including 5-19 (26.3%) from three point range. CCCB connected on 20-65 (30.8%) of their shot attempts, making just 1-20 (5.0%) from beyond the arc. The Oaks went 13-18 (72.2%) from the foul line, compared to 3-8 (37.5%) for the visiting Saints.
The Oaks held a 59-37 lead in rebounding, including a 21-10 edge on the offensive boards. OCU had 22 assists and 11 turnovers, while the Saints turned the ball over 16 times to go with seven assists.
Next up for the Lady Oaks will be another home matchup, their sixth straight, as they look to improve on their recent success, having won four of five on their home stand so far. They will host Grace Christian University on Saturday, January 18, tipping off at 1:00 pm.
