Men's Tennis Downs Pikeville

The Mighty Oaks traveled to Owensboro, KY to take on the University of Pikeville Bears, receiving votes in last season's NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Postseason poll. The Oaks dropped the doubles point, after losing at two and three doubles, but were able to claim the match by going 4-2 in singles play. 

The doubles team of Francisco Perez Esnoala and Jose Andres Perez Perez were able to claim the 1 doubles spot by a 6-4 score after dropping the 2 and 3 doubles spots. Starting the match down 0-1, the Mighty Oaks faced a challenge in singles. On the top 3 courts, the Oaks dropped the first set on all 3 courts while claiming the first set at 4,5,6 singles. Freshman, Tomas Ojeda was able to secure the first point of the day for the Mighty Oaks by winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. After dropping the first set 3-6, freshman Francisco Perez Esnoala battled for the second set 6-4 and claimed the match in a third set super tiebreak 10-7. After dropping the matches at courts 2 and 4, the Mighty Oaks needed 2 more points to claim victory over the Bears. Freshman Samarbir Sidhu claimed his match after a tough first set 7-5, 6-3. Clinching the victory for the Mighty Oaks was junior, Andre Baltazar with a match score of 4-6, 7-6 (2), 10-6 in the third set super tie break. 

Both Men's and Women's Tennis teams are at home this weekend for Double Header against IU Southeast starting at 10 am.
