Huntingburg's League Stadium to Serve as Mighty Oaks Baseball 2023 Home Venue

Oakland City, IN – Due to construction delays with the Konkler Complex, the Mighty Oaks baseball team will not be able to use the on-campus baseball field this spring. In the month of February, Gil Hodges Field in Princeton, Indiana, has served as their home venue. Starting in March, however, the Oakland City University baseball program will host their home games at the historic League Stadium, in Huntingburg, Indiana.

While using the recently renovated Gil Hodges Field in Princeton, the Mighty Oaks got off to a hot start in the early part of the season. Coach Andy Lasher and his team hold a record 11-1 on the season so far with eight of those wins obtained in Princeton. The upcoming series versus IUPU Columbus, will be the last series played at Gil Hodges Field.

Once River States Conference play starts in March, the Mighty Oaks will travel to Huntingburg, Indiana for their home games. League Stadium is a very historic venue, as it was originally built in 1894. It currently serves as the home stadium for the Southridge High School Raiders, as well as the Dubois County Bombers of the Ohio Valley League.

Coach Lasher, now in his third season with OCU, served as the manager for the Bombers for four years, winning two OVL championships (2015 and 2017), as well as the 2018 Blue Grass World Series. His overall record with the Bombers was 122-63, giving him the experience to make League Stadium truly feel like home field.

The stadium holds 2,783 people and has been seen in two famous movies. A League of Their Own and Soul of the Game were both recorded in League Stadium. The dimensions of the field are 332 feet to left field, 385 feet to center field and 320 feet down the right field line.

The first Mighty Oaks baseball games scheduled at League Stadium are those versus Indiana University Kokomo on March 3-4, with a single game scheduled for Friday, and a doubleheader on Saturday. The address for League Stadium is 203 S. Cherry Street, Huntingburg, Indiana.
