Box Score Huntington, IN- In their second away weekend of the year, OCU Women's Volleyball, under new Head Coach Allyson Moorman, traveled to Huntington University for a weekend tri-match.
In the first match of the day, the Mighty Oaks took on Stephens College of Missouri. In a very tight, back and forth match, the Oaks were able to prevail with a 3-1 victory. Game one was won by the Stars, 25-20. Game two was tight the whole way as well, but the Mighty Oaks came out on top, winning 25-21. Through all four games, there was not much separation between the two teams. Neither team was able to gain a larger advantage than 6 points. In the end, the Mighty Oaks took games three and four by the scores of 25-20, and 25-19, bringing their record to 2-3 on the year. Leading the way for the Mighty Oaks in game one was
De'sheonna Foster and
Lisa Scapini with 14 kills each.
Mariana Anastasiadi led the team in assists with 40 while also collecting team high 3 blocks, same with
Chloee Thomas.
In the second game of the day, the Mighty Oaks faced off with the host Huntington University. In another close match, the Mighty Oaks fell 0-3. Each game was tight and back and forth before the Mighty Oaks dropped all three games (26-24, 25-21, 25-16). Leading the way in game two for the Mighty Oaks was Foster again with 7 kills, Anastasiadi with 26 assists and sharing the blocks was, Foster, Anastasiadi, and Thomas each with 2.
The Mighty Oaks have their home opener tomorrow against conference foe IU-Southeast. First serve is at 7 pm in the Johnson Center! The theme for the game is Black Out.
