Evansville, IN-- In a highly anticipated rivalry match up, the Mighty Oaks Women's Soccer team faced off against the Bearcats from Brescia University. The Mighty Oaks came out on top, continuing their winning streak to six, with a 4-0 victory.
The Mighty Oaks Women's Soccer team improved to 5-0 in River States Conference play with a dominating defeat of the Bearcats. The goals started quickly in the 15th minute at the Mighty Oaks were awarded a free out just outside the penalty area. Freshman,
Alejandra Ortiz stepped up and smashed a ball through the defense and into the back of the net. The Mighty Oaks maintained that 1-0 lead into the halftime break, out shooting the Bearcats 8-2 in the first half.
Shortly after the halftime rest period, freshman
Jana Mueller, assisted by
Macey Woolcock, poked a ball just past the keepers reach to extend the lead to 2-0. Also scoring for the Mighty Oaks was
Tatjana Steinau, assisted by Mueller, and
Macey Woolcock, also assisted by Mueller.
The Mighty Oaks had the offensive pressure on as they dominated in Shots and Corners leading Brescia 19-3 in shots and 5-1 in corner kicks.
The Mighty Oaks look to extend their streak to seven as they face IU Columbus tomorrow at Noon at the Goebel Soccer Complex in Evansville, IN.
