Oakland City Baseball to Host NCCAA Mideast Regionals

Starting on Wednesday May 8, Oakland City University will host the NCCAA Mideast Regional baseball tournament. A three-team double elimination style tournament will take place at the newly renovated Konkler Field. Your Mighty Oaks will be the No. 1 seed in the bracket.

The tournament will have three teams participate; besides the Mighty Oaks, No. 2 seed Asbury University and No. 3 seed Alice Lloyd College will be competing for a spot in the NCCAA National Championship in Kansas City, Missouri later this month.

Oakland City is 39-16 on the year and will be looking to repeat what they did in 2023 and win the Mideast Regional championship again in 2024. The Asbury Eagles had a 20-17 record on the year, as they are going to try and claim back the title form Oakland City. Asbury won the Mideast Regionals in 2022, when the Mighty Oaks fell short in the final. The Eagles of Alice Lloyd College were not able to stay above .500, as they have a 17-33 record going into the NCCAA tournament.

The tournament will start at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8. Alice Lloyd and Asbury will face off in the battle of the Eagles. The winner this game moves on to the winners' bracket, where they will face the No. 1 seed Mighty Oaks. This game will take place on Wednesday as well, at 1:30 PM. The losers of game one and two will play at noon on Thursday. Whoever loses this game will be eliminated, the winner will play the winner of game two. Game four of the tournament will take place on Thursday at 3:30 PM, this could decide the winner of the tournament. If the winner of the losers' bracket ends up winning this game, the if necessary game will be played on Friday at noon.
