Point Lookout, MO – During their Spring Break, the Mighty Oaks baseball team went to Branson, Missouri for a two-game series versus the College of the Ozarks. In two high-scoring games, the Mighty Oaks came out on top, improving their overall record to 14-9.
Game 1
Early on, the Mighty Oaks offense struggled to get much going. As a result, the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks scored first. In the bottom of the second inning, they took a 0-1 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, the Mighty Oaks tied the game up. Singles from
Hudson Allen and
Kendric Sorgius resulted in a 1-1 score. An inning later, things started to go well for the Oakland City offense.
Moises Rosario and
Josh Russell went back-to-back with homeruns. Following this,
Hudson Allen singled,
Will Gibbs doubled and
Pete Britton drove in both of them with a double. After this inning, the Oaks were op 7-1. College of the Ozarks stayed in the game as they came back to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh, making it a 7-5 ballgame. Another
Pete Britton double made it 8-5 in the top of the eighth as
Will Gibbs who had singled was able to score. A balk later in the inning allowed Britton to score. A
Hudson Allen homerun in the top of the ninth secured the victory for the Mighty Oaks, the two-run shot made it 11-6 which wound up to be the final score.
Five pitchers toed the rubber for the Mighty Oaks.
Dicky Gonzalez started the game and earned the win. He pitched five innings, gave up six hits, one run (earned) as he walked two and struck out four.

Game 2
After a rough start for Oakland City, in which the Bobcats were able to score five runs in the first inning, the Mighty Oaks answered right away. They did so with five runs in the top of the second.
Hudson Allen drew a walk to start the rally,
Dicky Gonzalez followed with a single. With two outs in the inning,
Oliver Hamilton doubled to left field,
Pete Britton followed with a 2-RBI single. After a walk for
Josh Russell,
Xander Willis connected with a ball that left the yard in a hurry, tying the game up at five. Ozarks scored one in the bottom of the second, making it 5-6. They extended their lead in the fifth, scoring once again to make it 5-7. A double from Huson Allen and singles from
Keifer Wilson and
Kendric Sorgius resulted in a 6-7 score, before a 2-run homerun from
Oliver Hamilton put Oakland City back on top.
Keifer Wilson singled to center field in the seventh making it 10-7, as he drove in
Hudson Allen and
Xander Willis. Oakland City would add five more in the eighth, thanks to singles from
Oliver Hamilton,
Josh Russell,
Xander Willis,
Moises Rosario and a double from
Dicky Gonzalez. College of the Ozarks would score four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to come back in the game. Oakland City won with a final score of 15-11.

Next up for the Mighty Oaks is a River States Conference series versus the Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo. This series is set to start on Friday at 11 AM. A doubleheader will take place that day, the third game of the series will be played when the weather allows for it later in the weekend.
