Oaks Slug Their Way Past Wildcats

Oakland City, IN – After facing off against Bethel University (TN) a little over two weeks ago, the Mighty Oaks had their change to get some revenge versus the Wildcats, in the series that took place earlier in the year, OCU went 0-3. On Tuesday afternoon they were able to come out on top and beat the Wildcats.

Bethel started off well as they put up two runs in the top of the first. Marcos Arocho homered to start of the bottom of the first inning. The Wildcats would score two more runs in the second inning. Once again, Oakland City answered with a lead-off homerun, this one came from Hudson Allen, to make it 2-4. While Bethel had scored again, Kendric Sorgius went yard to make it 3-5 in the bottom of the fourth.

An inning later, the home team was able to tie the game up. Singles from Marcos Arocho and Moises Rosario and a walk for Xander Willis loaded the bases. Fred Fernandez and Hudson Allen both drew walks that allowed two runs to score, making the score 5-5. The Wildcats retook the lead with a homerun and a run that scored on a wild pitch. The Mighty Oaks got their offense going in the bottom of the second. After a walk for Josh Russell, Fred Fernandez homered to make it 7-8. A walk for Hudson Allen and a single from Kendric Sorgius put runners on the corners. An errant throw by the Wildcats catcher allowed both runners to score. After this, Will Gibbs drew a walk, Marcos Arocho doubled and Xander Willis drove in a run with a single. On a sacrifice fly from Josh Russell, Arocho scored the eleventh run for the Mighty Oaks. A 2-run homerun from Kendric Sorgius in the bottom of the eighth made it 13-8, which ended up being the final score.
