Oakland City, IN – The Mighty Oaks ballclub played their last home games of the 2025 season on Tuesday at Konkler Field. In a doubleheader versus Georgetown College, Oakland City came out on top in game one but lost the second matchup.
Game 1
The Oaks took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second after hits from
Fred Fernandez,
Kendric Sorgius (2 RBI) and
Xander Willis (2 RBI). Four runs were added two innings later when
Moises Rosario drove in two with a basehit and
Fred Fernandez also collected a 2-RBI single. Georgetown would score their first and last run of the game in the top of the fifth, making the score 8-1. Oakland City added a couple runs in the bottom half of this inning after doubles from
Dicky Gonzalez and
Leyton Ivers, as well as a single from
Gehrig Jones.
Pete Britton and
Brady Yeryar also collected RBIs with respectively a hit by pitch and a ground out. A homerun from
Garrett Causey made the final score 12-1.
Clark Gries was the starting pitcher for the Oaks, he earned his fourth win of the year. He pitched six innings in which he gave up seven hits and one run (earned). He walked two and struck out one.
Ashton Tindle closed the game out, in one inning he saw two runners reach base on errors, none of them scored.
Game 2
Things went downhill quickly in game two of the doubleheader. The Tigers had a 1-5 lead after three innings. In the top of the fourth, Georgetown added another run. The Mighty Oaks answered with two runs on a single from
Leyton Ivers, who ended up going 3-for-3 during this game. A homerun from
Xander Willis in the seventh made the final score 4-6, putting the Mighty Oaks at a 34-12 record on the year.
Six pitchers toed the rubber in this seven-inning game.
Kendric Sorgius started and went two innings. He gave up one hit, one run (earned), while walking one and striking out three.

Landen Ray (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO) all came in out of the bullpen.
Tomorrow the Mighty Oaks will start their last River States Conference series of the regular season, as they well head up to Indiana University Columbus to take on the Crimson Pride. A doubleheader will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM EST, the third game will be played on Saturday at 1:00 PM EST.
