Box Score Oakland City, IN – Oakland City University men's soccer claimed victory at home, beating St. Mary of the Woods College by a score of 3-2, in a second overtime period at Aigner Field.The Mighty Oaks now hold a record of 5-6, while St. Mary's falls to 5-3-1 on the year.
The Oaks trailed 0-1 at halftime, after the Pomeroys found the back of the net early in the 9th minute. The Oaks lead in shots in the first half, but were unable to find the net, outshooting the Pomeroys in 5-3 in the opening frame.
Early in the second half, the Pomeroys were granted a Penalty Kick, with which they took a 2-0 lead finding the bottom left corner against OCU Freshman Keeper
Arthur Hill.
Then, things started to change. OCU Freshman
Marco Pullano won the ball in the midfield and played it over the top to freshman striker Georgio Alberti, who then finished it over the keeper with a header in the 62nd minute. Ten minutes later, OCU Junior
Josue Dubon challenged the left back and drew a foul right inside the 18 yard box earning a Penalty Kick for the Mighty Oaks.
In the 73rd minute OCU Sophomore Midfielder
Ian Fierro snuck past the keeper on the penalty kick and knotted the score up 2-2. The game remained even though the end of the game and all the way to the 114th minute where the game ended.
OCU Junior
Josue Dubon broke away from the defenders and found himself 1v1 against the Pomeroy keeper, where he was able to find the back of the net, and win the game for the Oaks.
Statistically, the Oaks lead in most categories, leading in shots 16-7 and corners 4-2.
