Oakland City to Host NCCAA Soccer Regionals

 Oakland City, IN - On Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, Oakland City University will be hosting the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament for men's soccer. Four teams will compete for a spot in the national tournament that will take place later this month in Kissimmee, Florida.
 
After the Mighty Oaks men's soccer team fell short to WVU Tech in the semifinals of the River States Conference Tournament, their season was not quite over yet. There is still a chance to compete for a national title in the NCCAA. In order to make it to the national tournament, winning the Mideast Regionals is the first step.
 
The Mighty Oaks get to do so on their home turf, Aigner Field on the campus of Oakland City University. The tournament includes four teams. The No. 1 seed is Campbellsville University, No. 2 seed is Oakland City University, No. 3 seed is Covenant College and the No. 4 seed is Asbury University.
 
The Tigers of Campbellsville University ended their season with a 9-6-1 record. Besides being apart of the NCCAA, they are also an NAIA member of the Mid-South Conference. Covenant College is a NCAA Division 2 institution in the Collegiate Conference of the South, they finished their season with a 11-3-5 record. Asbury University -a former member of the River States Conference, that has recently moved to the NCAA Division 3 – ended their year with an 8-6-3 record going into the NCCAA Regional Tournament.
 
On Friday, at 11:00 AM Campbellsville University and Asbury University will compete for a spot in the finals on Saturday. At 2:30 PM the Mighty Oaks take on the Scots of Covenant College. The final game will be on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
 
The Mighty Oaks can really use your support in these qualification games, make sure to dress warm when you come to Aigner Field to cheer the men's soccer team on their way to Kissimmee, Florida. The forecasts say that the temperature will be around the mid-thirties on Friday and Saturday. The women's soccer team has already qualified for the NCCAA Nationals.
