34-0 Run Propels Oaks to Sixth Win

The Emmaus Bible College Eagles traveled from Dubuque, Iowa, to take on the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks. After trailing 29-25 with 8:45 to go in the opening period, OCU scored the last 28 points of the half to lead 53-29 at the break. The Oaks increased their lead throughout much of the second period, winning by the score of 102-56.
 

Logan Worthington led all scorers, posting 23 points for the Oaks to go with four steals. Addison Wagler, returning from an ankle injury, tallied 22 counters, a game high eight rebounds, and four steals, while Andrew Scott came up with 15 points, seven boards, and six assists.
 

Steven Horan was the only Emmaus player to reach double figures, scoring 14 points before fouling out late in the second half. Matthew Tomlinson chipped in with nine counters, followed by  eight each from Nacio Dillard and Caleb Postma.
 

For the game, OCU shot 40-65 (61.5%) from the field, including 6-16 (37.5%) from three point range. EBC connected on 22-56 (39.3%) of their shots, going 10-32 (31.3%) from long range. The Oaks made 16-21 (76.2%) of their foul shots, compared to 2-2 (100.0%) for the Eagles.
 

OCU held a 39-22 rebounding advantage, including a 10-5 edge on the offensive glass. The Mighty Oaks had 24 assists and 15 turnovers, while EBC had 12 assists and 27 errors.
 

The Mighty Oaks will carry their record of 6-1 into a weekend series against the Ohio State University-Mansfield, in the Johnson Center, playing on back-to-back days, tipping at 3:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
