Box Score Oakland City, IN – The men's basketball team improved its record to 2-3 on the season with their second win over Welch College this month. Oakland City traveled to Welch back on November 7
th and came away with an 82-64 road win. On Monday night the Mighty Oaks proved to be just as convincing at home, winning 94-73.
The Mighty Oaks were strong defensively in the first half creating 10 Welch turnovers which lead to strong offensive play for OCU. Oakland City's leading scoring on the evening was Junior
Aamir Mack, who had 16 points in the first half. Mack finished his night going 11-17 (64.7%) with 28 points, seven rebounds and an assist. OCU's
Hunter Johnson got hot from distance in the first going 3-5 from the three-point line. Johnson finished his game with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
With a 56-29 lead heading into halftime the Mighty Oaks were never threatened in the second. Grad student
Robby Williams hit a couple timely threes early in the second half following Welch scores. Williams finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Other notable lines for the Mighty Oaks included senior
Gichairo Berika with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
Jaylen Negron and
Jonathan Claxton each had eight points for the Mighty Oaks.
