Men's Basketball Alumnus Signs Professional Contract

Oakland City, IN — Oakland City University is proud to announce that 2023 graduate Allen Sims has signed a professional basketball contract with the Phuket Mammoths of the TEBA League in Thailand.

Sims, who played under Head Coach Ken French, credits his time at OCU for shaping both his athletic and personal journey.

"It was a great experience to play for Coach French at OCU. It taught me how to be great not only on the court but also with my faith. That's the biggest takeaway from OCU: the ability to put God first, and basketball will fall right in line," said Sims. "I had the opportunity to play with teammates from many different backgrounds and cultures, which taught me so much both on and off the court. I plan to continue my academic journey with a PhD at OCU, and I'm excited to take this next step in my career as I go overseas to play for the Phuket Mammoths."

Coach French praised Sims' dedication and perseverance: "Allen has worked extremely hard for this opportunity. He's never given up on his dream of playing professionally. He truly loves this game, and it shows."

During his time at OCU, Sims was a standout student-athlete, known not only for his contributions on the court but also for his positive presence on campus. The university celebrates his success and looks forward to watching his continued accomplishments as he begins his professional basketball career abroad.
