The Mighty Oaks improved to 7-1 on the year, turning a 36-29 halftime lead into a 76-57 victory over the Mavericks of Ohio State University-Mansfield.
Addison Wagler posted a game high 24 points before fouling out of the game, followed by a double-double by Logan Worthington, who scored 21 to go along with 11 rebounds. Andre Bearden added 14 counters, while Andrew Scott chipped in with 10. Worthington was a perfect 12-12 from the foul line, good for the third most made free throws in a game in OCU history.
Denarius Harris paced the Mavericks, scoring 15 counters, despite struggling from the field, making just 4-15 shots. Gavin Stigall notched 11 points to go with a team best eight rebounds, while Barris Coleman added nine points and five boards despite struggling with foul trouble, and fouling out of the contest in just 15 minutes of play.
For the game, OCU shot 24-57 (42.1%) from the field, making 6-18 (33.3%) from three point range. OSU-M made 19-66 (28.8%) of their field goal tries, connecting on 7-30 (23.3%) from beyond the arc. The Oaks made 22-25 (88.0%) from the foul line, compared to 12-15 (80.0%) for the visiting Mavericks.
Both teams hauled in 41 rebounds in the game, with OCU trailing 14-8 on the offensive glass. The Oaks handing out 12 assists, compared to eight for the visitors, while winning the turnover battle 16-13.
These two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon, in the Johnson Center, tipping at 3:00 pm.
