The Mighty Oaks improved to 12-2 on the season, turning a 35-18 halftime lead into an 80-68 victory, as they hosted the Hilltoppers of Ohio University-Chillicothe.
Andrew Scott led all scorers in the game, putting up 28 counters, going 10-10 from the foul line, while finishing with eight rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Logan Worthington was the game's second leading scorer, pouring home 20 counters, eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Mitch Frederick came up with a double-double in the contest, notching 11 points while grabbing a team best 10 rebounds. Jarod McHugh came off the bench to join Joe Hinton with eight points apiece, while Beau Hefner added five counters.
Anthony Dixon, Jr. paced the Hilltoppers, going 7-18 from the field, including 4-11 from three point range, to post 18 counters. Armani Towns added 16 points while hauling in a game high 18 rebounds. Erique Thurman chipped in with 11 points, followed by nine scores and six boards from Tyler McFarren.
As a team, OCU connected on 26-57 (45.6%) of their shot attempts, including 5-20 (25.0%) from beyond the arc. OU-Chillicothe made 27-65 (41.5%) from the floor, going 8-23 (34.8%) from long range. The Oaks scored on 23-26 (88.5%) from the foul line, compared to just 6-8 (75.0%) for the visiting Hilltoppers.
The Mighty Oaks held a slim 37-34 rebounding advantage, despite trailing 10-8 on the offensive boards. OCU handed out 17 assists, five more than the visitors, while winning the turnover battle 18-15.
Addison Wagler, OCU's leading scorer, did not play as he is suffering from the flu. Andre Bearden injured his thumb in Oakland City's last game, and was unable to compete, while Christian Marks and Austin Robertson are still nursing ankle injuries.
These teams will face off against each other again tomorrow, in the Johnson Center, tipping off at 3:00.
