Box Score Following the Christmas break, the Oakland City University men's basketball team returned to action, on the road, facing the University of Alabama-Huntsville, the only team to give the Mighty Oaks a loss during the first half of the season. After leading most of the first ten minutes of the opening period, OCU found themselves trailing the Chargers 48-26 at the halftime break. The Oaks were unable to rally, losing by the final score of 99-72, and falling to 8-2 on the year.
Addison Wagler led the way for the Oaks, scoring a game high 21 points.
Andrew Scott added 18, followed by a double-double from
Logan Worthington, who notched 13 counters and hauled in a game high 11 rebounds.
Andre Bearden chipped in with 11 points, while joining Worthington with game highs in assists with six each.
J.J. Kaplan paced the Chargers, scoring 19, while Justin Ward added 16. Kip Owens tallied 14, followed by 13 from Dalton Barkley. Seth Swalve added 12 counters, while Kerney Lane came up with 11.
For the game, OCU shot 28-68 (41.2%) from the field, including 7-20 (35.0%) from beyond the arc. The Chargers connected on 37-68 (54.4%) of their shot attempts, making 12-32 (37.5%) from long range. The Oaks scored on 7-12 (58.3%) from the foul line, compared to 13-16 (81.3%) for UAH.
OCU was outrebounded 44-30 in the loss, including a deficit of 11-7 on the offensive boards. The Oaks handed out 18 assists, compared to 21 for the Chargers, while winning the turnover battle 14-10.
