Box Score 2 The Oakland City University women's soccer team opened up their 2018 regular season play with a two-game series against the Knights of Kentucky Christian University, in Grayson, Kentucky. On Friday, August 31, playing in a hot 89 degrees on a turf field, the Lady Oaks took 22 shots on goal, while their goalkeeper, freshman
Jillian Beem, had eight saves. With a strong scoring effort, and solid defense, OCU finished with a winning score of 5-1.
Freshman Maddie Davis netted two goals and assisted on two more. Sophomore
Maggie Hendricks scored one goal, assisted by
Aubree Miller, while
Madison Bleska also had a goal, assisted by Davis.
On Saturday, September 1, the Lady Oaks once again faced off against the Knights, looking to take both ends of the two-game set. After a slow start for both teams, OCU held on for a 2-1 victory, in a rainy 72 degree contest. Oakland City's women took 19 shots on goal, as their goals were scored by sophomore
Becca Rutherford and junior
Madison Bleska.
The Lady Oaks will return to action on Wednesday, September 5, at 4:00 pm CST. It will be OCU's first home contest of the season, as Spalding University will take on Oakland City University at Aigner Field.
