Evansville, IN - The women of the Oakland City Cross Country team had a very impressive showing at the Angel Mounds Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Indiana. Of the four women that raced, three of them ran all time bests in the 6,000 meter distance. One of them,
Chloe O'Neal, ran her first 6k race ever.
Pamela Barbosa led the group in 27:52, placing 147 out of 168. This was a 1min 6sec personal best. Maria followed in 28:45, placing 153. She dropped 2min 6sec off her personal best from Midway University.
Jolea Kennedy was the third Mighty Oak to cross the finish line. She ran 29:48, which was a 1 minute 53 second personal best for the Senior.
Chloe O'Neal finished her first ever 6k in a time of 33:10, placing 165.
"I was ecstatic about the way the women went out and competed today," said
Blake Guillozet, OCU Cross Country Head Coach. "They ran with aggression and trusted their fitness. I keep reminding them that as long as they keep doing the right things, good things will happen. This was shown today with the huge drops in 6k personal bests."
The women will return to action on October 21 at the Great Lakes Challenge 5k in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 12:45est.
