Lady Oaks All Run Season Bests At Muddy NAIA Great Lakes Challenge

Grand Rapids, MI - The women of the Mighty Oaks Cross Country team traveled up to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge. The weather report called for rain all throughout the morning, and that proved to be true. The Oakland City University team raced in the 4th race of the day, called the White Race, making it very difficult as they had to compete on very soft ground and run through many mud-filled stretches.
Senior Pamela Barbosa led the way for the Oaks, just nearing her all time personal best with a time of 22:56 and placing 122 out of 185 in the women's 5k. Maria Valero and Jolea Kennedy came next, both running 23:33 (145/146). Closing out the Oaks was Chloe O'Neal in a time of 27:33 (193).
"The women ran great. All four that raced were able to go out and run season bests on a course that was very beat up. This is proof that the ladies are in their best shape. Pamela almost set her PR, and Maria set another massive 5k PR. Things are going in the right direction for this women's program," Coach Guillozet added.
The Mighty Oaks will finish their season at Midway University for the River States Conference Championship on 11/4. Women's 6k at 10:00cst, Men's 8k at 11:00cst.
