The women's tennis team continued a tough opening stretch to its spring campaign falling 7-0 to #23 ranked Campbellsville in Bowling Green, KY on Monday afternoon.
Liz Aristizabal and
Cristina Hurtado won 6-3 at number two doubles for the only Mighty Oak win
The Mighty Oaks fell behind 1-0 early after losing the doubles point
. Isabela Todorovic and
Maria Trembach fell 6-2 at the number one position and
Sarah Acevedo and
Tiana Sparks lost by the same score of 6-2 at the number three doubles spot giving the Tigers the doubles point.
Things started off on a sour note in singles, as number one singles player
Maria Trembach had to retire due to an injury at just 0-1 in the first set.
Cristina Hurtado put up a good fight at number two, losing by a score of 6-3, 7-5.
Isabela Todorovic had a strong second set, losing her match 6-0, 6-4 and
Juliana Puente battled in a 6-3, 6-4 defeat.
Carolina Segura fell 6-1, 6-0 at the number six singles position.
Next up for Oakland City is a home match against Ottawa on Friday at 1pm and a trip to Bowling Green, KY to take on Georgetown Saturday.
