Oct. 2, 2021—This past Saturday the Oaks continued to improve, when they competed at the Louisville classic. Draven Huff was the men's top runner on the day he finished in 29:37. Justin Defur finished in 30:40 who was followed by Ronald Kiprono with a minute PR of 30:54. Andrew Tarus was the 4th finishing guy for the team in 31:09. This came after he played 90 minutes in the soccer game the day before. Roberto Gutierrez dropped a minute and a half off his previous PR to round out the top 5 in 32:05. Dillon Riddell finished in 37:54.
When asked about the race Coach Sparks had this to say, "The men's team has dropped 2 minutes off their top 5 average over the last couple of races and over 5 minutes from last year. Between the decrease in team average and a couple big PRs today, I'm very happy with the progress the team is making but, feel that we still haven't hit our stride yet. My goal for the team, by conference, is to be at or just below a 30-minute top 5 average; we're getting close to it."
The next race will take place Friday, October 8th at the Brescia Invite, in Owensboro, Kentucky.
